The New Theory Test.
Multiple choice section.
- Consists of 35 multiple choice questions, covering a wide range of driving topics
- The test is conducted by touch screen computer
- To pass you must answer 30 or more questions correctly in 40 minutes.
After a break of 3 minutes the hazard perception section will start
The Hazard Perception test
- You will be shown a tutorial video 1st, which can be repeated if you wish
- This test consists of 14 clips each lasting one minute featuring various types of hazards.
- You should respond by pressing a mouse button as soon as you see a hazard developing that may make a driver take some action, such as changing speed and direction.
The earlier a developing hazard is spotted and a response made the higher the score.
Candidates can score up to 5 marks on each hazard.
- The test contains 15 scoreable hazards
- The pass mark for this section is 44 out of 75
Results for both parts of the test are given when candidates return to the waiting room.
- You must pass both sections to pass the test
- The waiting list is currently 2/3 weeks
- The theory test currently costs £20.50

As part of your lesson plan your instructor will help you with your theory test as much as you require. She will have theory test papers available for you to practice on.
We can also provide pupils with a CD-ROM that covers all aspects of the Theory Test, at additional cost
